The Shinhoto Chi-Ha was an upgraded version of the Type 97 Chi-Ha, developed by Japan during WWII. Introduced in 1942, it featured a new turret ("Shinhoto" meaning "new turret") and a more powerful 47mm gun to better combat Allied armor. The Shinhoto Chi-Ha became Japan’s most effective tank of the war, seeing action in battles across the Pacific and in mainland Asia, where its improved firepower made it a significant threat in the early stages of the war.
