The Jagdpanzer 38(t), commonly known as the Hetzer ("Hunter"), was introduced in 1944 and based on the Czechoslovakian Panzer 38(t) chassis. It was designed to provide a cost-effective and efficient tank destroyer that could be mass-produced to bolster Germany's defensive capabilities during the later stages of the war. The Hetzer was armed with the 7.5 cm Pak 39 L/48 gun, which was capable of penetrating most Allied armor. Its low profile and sloped armor made it difficult to detect and provided excellent protection against enemy fire.
