The Churchill II was an improvement over the Churchill I, featuring enhanced armor and armament. Introduced in 1942, it replaced the Churchill I's hull-mounted 3-inch howitzer with an additional 7.92mm BESA machine gun, retaining the main 2-pounder gun in the turret. The Churchill II saw extensive action in the North African Campaign and was instrumental in providing heavy armor support during key operations such as the Second Battle of El Alamein.
