The PaK 40 (Panzerabwehrkanone 40) was a powerful 75mm anti-tank gun that became the backbone of German anti-tank defences from 1942 onwards. Capable of penetrating the armour of most Allied tanks at long range, it was a significant upgrade over earlier weapons like the PaK 36. Though heavy and less mobile, the PaK 40 was often dug into defensive positions or towed into action by trucks or light vehicles. When deployed with elite Fallschirmjäger units, it gave airborne troops a much-needed punch against enemy armour, helping them hold the line even against advancing tanks.
