The Fallschirmjäger were Germany’s elite paratroopers during World War II, known for their daring operations and high morale. By the later years of the war, they were often deployed as ground troops, including in anti-tank roles. Armed with the Panzerschreck—a German rocket launcher inspired by the American Bazooka—these teams were tasked with taking out enemy armour at close range. The weapon proved deadly against Allied tanks, though its use required nerves of steel due to the short engagement distances and heavy return fire.
